Victor Moscoso

Image
In this research piece, I will explore Victor Moscoso's artwork for the 1967 Youngbloods concert poster at Avalon Ballroom. This piece of art was created in 1967 by Victor Moscoso in psychedelic style. In the middle of a poster are two figures dancing. According to the colour wheel Victor used square colour pallette such as blue and orange - which are complementary to each other, and  - for the typography, and in the middle of the work; pink and green which are also complementary to each other. He mixed pink with orange and blue, but not with green. Blue colour is used on the bottom of the image and also in the centre; orange is used in the center and on the top.  The background of the poster is made with 4 colours - pink with orange and green with blue. In the center these colours mixed in the opposite way, as the main center piece (blue +orange) is unique and orange with blue doesnt miz anywhere else in this poster. The top of the poster has orange text as main and blue+green bac

Design of Saul Bass's

In this piece of research I will explore Saul Bass technique in graphic design. I will write about colours, shapes, forms and style.  SAUL BASS'S DESIGNS FOR  ANATOMY OF A MURDER  (1959) AND  THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM  (1955) Apart of his famous work for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 film Vertigo, Saul Bass produced designs of  Hollywood’s most iconic films of the 1950s and 1960s by  Otto Preminger, Stanley Kubrick, Billy Wilder and Martin Scorsese. As Bass was very professional and skilled, he stared creating branding and logos for world-wide known brands such as for Bell Telephone, the AT&T Corporation, United Airlines, General Foods, Hanna-Barbera, Continental Airlines, Kleenex and Quaker (Oats Hooper, M. 2023). "Saul Bass was undoubtedly the greatest title sequence maker. Brilliant – just brilliant" - Quentin Tarantino.  The technique which Bass used is called lithography. Lithography process stands for a printing using water and oil mixtures which don't mix. The

art portfolio 1: SIGN OFF

My theme is Pop Art and I will be creating branding design package for a company producing toiletries such as Shampoo, Moisturiser, Soap and Body Wash. The 2D branding will include a logo, Poster mock-ups, social media advert/billboard/buses/shop window mock-up/posters and Typography. The 3D work will be a promotional item for the company. My inspiration will be 1960’s and 1970’s retro advertisements – I will look at the layout, use of typography, colour and adapt these ideas for a contemporary market. Also, the work of Ariels Mores has inspired this project.  I will work on my logo by hand and then digitise it. For this project I will be using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator which I am going to learn this term as part of my skills development to render these images. This project will take 8 weeks to complete, aiming for Week 8 to finish my outcomes to give me time to complete and improve my work. SIGN OFF SHEET

Ideas development

For my 3D project term 2 my first thought were about making a shampoo bottle with a hairbrush. I decided it because a lot of people going to the shower didnt take a hairbrush with them. Also after a class when we had a thing and we tested it, I have got a hair brush, and it inspoired me to make this sketch. I was going to make a bottle narrow in the middle for holding it in the hand, and also I wanted to make a design which reminds of the past (out grandma, village...). The hair brush has a history, reminiscents. Unique handmade, which has. lot of history, has a hair. Simple form, fro a wood. Dont use of plastic. All synonyms are scratched, varnished, hairy, bristles, coarse, nostalgia, personal care,  the rest of mails on the surface.  Later on I put my idea on my subject area, and I decided to change a major project to something, what is more related to my subject ( graphic design). As my theme - PopArt, I will use it in my major project which is creating aselfcare  BRAND . The idea

Ideas generation

Crazy eights On this lesson we sterted generating ideas during the lesson. Namely, it was necessary to divide a sheet of paper into 8 parts, and draw 1 idea on 1 square for two minutes.  The main idea of my sketches is marketing, with the help of which you can influence people's feelings. In all the sketches, I used this technology, for example, "causing a sense of curiosity or intrigue", "forbidding something". This automatically creates a sense of interest in people and a desire to do what is impossible. The last sketch calls you to be unique. Everyone wants to be unique. Everything above is the outcome of my theme - POP ART. Using popular culture in marketing is a good combo of successful selling. The main idea of design is to sell.

First thoughts

The first topic to discuss is Primitivism. This theme is known for its representation of the primitive parts of lives. In my graphic design project, I could use a primitive painting of leaves, human lives, and simple processes of a daily life such as eating or shaving. The second theme I could use in my project is Industrialism. For instance, I can use silhouettes of buildings factories on the packaging.  After reading the brief of the project, the first thoughts fell on Pop Art. Since my subject is graphic design related to marketing and influencing people through popular culture. Packaging comes to mind, i.e. branding for the company. Using popular topics that are now in everyone's ears. When considering this project The first what I think about are music, news, fashion, and TV-shows. I can use popular themes in my branding.

Recreating

"The Arnolfini Portrait" Jan Van Eyck, 1434. In the art portfolio lesson in the first week, we started working on a recreation of a painting. I and Aya chose a picture called "The Arnolfini Portrait" Jan Van Eyck, 1434. We chose some materials that were presented to us and started creating the background. For the background, we used some pieces of fabric, paper, and curtains. Next, we decided to attach a woven plate to the symbol of the clock. Also to create an atmosphere of wealth, we added gold figurines and fruits to our painting. Instead of a window, we used a picture frame, and instead of gold jewellery in the background, we used a necklace that looked similar. On the rest to images. I was a man, for my outfit, we chose a black long cloth similar to the original and a hat. For the image of the Girl, we chose a red belt, a green dress, blue pieces of fabric for the sleeves and net fabrics for the headdress - veils. For more atmosphere, we added pieces of colourf

Welcome to my blog post! This term I would like to learn more about how to use a professional software for designers such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop how to work with clients Brief and to become more skilled designer. Throughout my winter holidays I visited an exhibition called frameless in London in Marble Arch. There were a lot of pieces of art which we had learned at DMU and turn one. The first room of this exhibition was full of projectors on each wall the idea is at 20 minutes video which shows an immersive art the videos started with one piece of art and it turns into a seven piece of art this video included a lot of artists such as Van Gogh, Munch, Salvador Dali, Leonardo da Vinci.  Christian Marclay used an idea of immersial art in his work "Clock" 2019.
