Victor Moscoso

In this research piece, I will explore Victor Moscoso's artwork for the 1967 Youngbloods concert poster at Avalon Ballroom.

This piece of art was created in 1967 by Victor Moscoso in psychedelic style. In the middle of a poster are two figures dancing. According to the colour wheel Victor used square colour pallette such as blue and orange - which are complementary to each other, and  - for the typography, and in the middle of the work; pink and green which are also complementary to each other. He mixed pink with orange and blue, but not with green. Blue colour is used on the bottom of the image and also in the centre; orange is used in the center and on the top.

The background of the poster is made with 4 colours - pink with orange and green with blue. In the center these colours mixed in the opposite way, as the main center piece (blue +orange) is unique and orange with blue doesnt miz anywhere else in this poster. The top of the poster has orange text as main and blue+green background, the bottom has a blue as main and orange+pink background.

Composition is well made if comes to the colour. The accent is made on the centre of the poster by placing a blue and orange mix which is situated only here. Other parts of work made using complementary colour rule. And in the middle we can see the white-purple background behind the maim objects. The violet - mix of blue and pink.

Shapes which we see on the poster are mostly basic. These are half-circules, lines, stars, curves. Places where the typography - they are free shapes which is typical for psychedelic movement. The middle is a square, with a slightly lighter stroke.

Typoghaphy is strainedly, we can not recognise what type of font it is, as the first digital font was created in 1968 year (Accessed: 30 January 2024)
