Throught the material choice, according to my previous post I decided try to find a material which is like a velvet. My tutor suggested to have a look on Magic Material shop. Walking in Leicester city center I found a shop with lots of materials. I had a look on variations of different velvet. The disicion was made for red velvet. I chose a red colour because in area of sport red colour increases your chances to win. Also, red colour is a symbol of passion, love and desire (which is helpful with my project). Also, in my colour palette i have a red colour.

I started from measurments.
Using scissors I cut the material, made a hole in the middle for a lid. Using double sided sticky tape I made it stick to the MDF.
I used mixed media to fill the indside from my box under the shelve.
I realised, that using a textile in a way I want, the middle shelve seems too wide. As I did not have anything at home, I found a nail freezer. I used that to file the edge.
I covered shelve, the outside of a box in the velvet.
According to my references from the previous post I am very happy with the result. I wanted to use a paper instead of a fabric, but clearly this is the best decision,
I had to open the box 4-5 times because textile did not fit as I wanted. I also used a knife to fill the fabric (near the edges)
And this is a first trial. I realised that the perfume bottle is too low, so I opened box again and put more mixed media in the middle part.
I am very happy with the result. If I do this next time. I will measure better, so I do not need to cut MDF after.
On this stage I had a bit of leftovers and I decided to make a case for a button also. Before I thougth to paint it into a red acryic. But later seemed to be better with velvet. So It will be consistent.
Using threads, needle and a hair band I created this handle.
I am very happy with the result. I will apply material to the inside of a lid too.
